TBT: I Am

Who am I?

I am the breeze blowing through the trees,

I am a peaceful feeling of ease.

I am a current of unnamed strength,

I am the Friend who will go to all lengths.

I am the sound of waves lapping on the shore,

I am the knowledge of being secure.

I am a fountain of undying love,

I am both mighty lion and sweet, gentle dove.

I am each delicate blade of grass,

I am the beggar you often pass.

I am the silver lining on every cloud,

I am the quiet whisper when all else is loud.

I am the glorious singing heard when you assemble,

I am the presence that you feel when you remember.

I am an omnipresent entity,

I am the Giver of eternal serenity.

I am every wondrous, sparkling star,

I am the Foundation of all that you are.

Who am I?

I Am Who I Am.

I Am God.

Background:

This is one of the early poems that I held especially dear. I think my parents also talked about this one more than most of my others when I shared it with them, even to the point of my dad having a copy of it in his office, I think.

Lord, help me, help us to understand You more and more, Your many layers, Your complexity and simplicity, Your goodness and all the ways it is expressed. Help us to articulate what we have learned of You to others in honest and love-filled ways, all in Jesus’ name.

Wishing you goodness without end,

Jess
