What in the world is that name?

“Clarion” has been one of my favorite words for enough years that I can’t remember how many it has been. It refers to the loud and clear sound of trumpets, often used in the phrase “clarion call,” which is a beautiful alternative to the phrase “a call to action”.

An “eyrie” is a nest, often of birds like eagles, that is found in high places (i.e. cliffs or mountaintops). It can also refer to manmade structures in those same types of secluded places. (Merriam-Webster notes that “eyrie” is the British spelling, with the alternative spelling being “aerie”. I like the look of the British one, personally.)

I combined these two pretty words to represent what I want to do here — to have a place (online and offline) where the goal is to reach for the beauty above us, to hear the call, answer it, and echo it to others.

This is not something that can be done alone, at least not done in fulness. I’m so glad you are here. Things like goodness, truth, and beauty are worth seeking and imitating in art and in life, and you are worth sharing them with.

Goodness, truth, and beauty are such big concepts that they can be expressed in countless ways while still staying consistent with the deepest reality, the Truth, if you will, which I believe is the way of all things expressed by the God who describes Himself in the Bible. I hope to honor Him here in whatever ways He deems fit. There will be poetry, for He is a poet. There will be physical items I have made or designed, for He is a designer. Who knows what else? He’ll let me know when it is time.

I hope there will also be camaraderie and encouragement, for He is the best Friend and Encourager.

Again, I am so glad you are here, on this website and on this Earth.

Wishing you goodness without end,

Jess
