TBT: Calm Down

Rushing around like a little, lively ant

with so many things to do.

You’re always doing the same old thing

and can’t accomplish anything new.

Stop, slow down, calm your breath.

If you don’t, you might

work yourself to death

and no one wants that, right?

So, when you’re busy and filled with stress

and you know you will soon crack

don’t be overcome by the craziness

and in happiness you won’t lack.

Background:

So, so close! Almost the whole poem follows an ABAB, CDCD type pattern - the only one missing is at the very beginning, where “ant” doesn’t rhyme with “thing.” This feels like a challenge - maybe I should start trying to write new poems somehow inspired by some aspect of these old ones. Something to contemplate.

Anywaaaaay, I hope you take some deep breaths today and seek balance - God made us both for work and for rest. “To and fro, stop and go, that’s what makes the world go round.”

Wishing you goodness without end,

Jess
