TBT: What Can You Do?
As we sing our songs of praise
in thankfulness our voices raise
for Christ died for all our sins.
When washed in the blood new life begins.
His flesh was beaten, pierced, and torn,
on His head was a crown of thorns.
He died so that we could live;
He gave all that He could give.
If He did all of this for you,
what now for Him can you do?
Background:
Still challenging myself in this regard - I am still so humanly forgetful. Forgetting to slow down and consider all He has given and done for me, forgetting to ask myself more regularly what service I could be doing that I am not.
Sometimes I swing too far into valuing rest or valuing my own plan for my time; that is a common temptation now, in a culture that preaches self-care sometimes above all else.
I want, and I hope you want, to learn to do whatever is right for the moment. Some moments, we need to rest. Some moments we need to stretch ourselves to what we think is the limit of our giving so that it is proven to us that our perception of limits is shortsighted.
Lord, help us have discernment. Help us slow down and look at Jesus, “full in His wonderful face,” and learn from Him.
Wishing you goodness without end,
Jess
