All I Need and All I Know

Whom have I in heaven but You?

To You my wounded spirit flew.

In the shadow of my night,

You were there, my only Light.

People wish on stars that glow,

But all I need and all I know

Is found inside the home You’ve built,

A place for us set free from guilt,

For throbbing hearts fresh with pain,

Burdened down with stains and shame.

Earth’s gentlest hands aren’t soft enough,

And so I call upon Your love —

The Heart that spoke and all was made,

The Truth to which all lies shall fade,

The One on Whom depends the all,

The Rise that comes forth from the fall.

Full seems heaven with Three in One —

Holy Spirit, Father, Son —

But those Three turned one to all,

And to all He sends a call,

Clarion ringing o’er all climes,

Through all hearts and in all times

To join Him in His land of rest,

To reach for all that’s pure and best.

In heaven’s fullness still there’s room —

You long to empty every tomb.

It’s just begun when all is through —

Whom have we in heaven but You?

Background:

Alas, another piece for which I have forgotten the date.

Heavily featured is one of my favorite phrases from the Psalms, found in Psalm 73:25 - “Whom have I in heaven but You?”

At the beginning of it all, at the end of it all — there He is.

Wishing you goodness without end,

Jess
